Marketing 1-Introduction to Business and Marketing is a class designed to give you some basic knowledge when trying to gain employment in the workforce as well as some basic knowledge and understanding of business and marketing in general. This class was created to help you gain a broad understanding of skills needed to find and maintain a job and to give you some general information in regards to the different functions and activities involved in business. You will use communication, teamwork and organization skills throughout the projects and assignments in this course.

Learning Objectives and Areas of Study:
This course is designed to introduce students to essential marketing and business principles. It is a hands-on class that will create educated consumers as well as teach valuable work place skills. The class will incorporate both individual and group projects. Therefore working as teams will require the reliability, respect, cooperation, and honesty of all members. The concepts covered include:

Classroom Assessments:
There will be worksheets, activities, projects, quizzes and tests to assess what you have learned in class. The class website will give the day to day game plan, so it is expected that you visit the website to keep updated on what is being done. If you are absent from class, it is required that you check the website to verify concepts and work missed during that time. It is then up to you to check in with the teacher for missing handouts. Assignments are due on due dates. If turned in late, the assignment will drop one full grade for each day late. With only half point possible two weeks past due date.
Grading Scale:
Grades are based on the sum of total class points earned on projects, presentations, daily assignments, quizzes and tests. Grades will NOT be rounded up.
90-100% A 80-89% B 70-79% C 60-69% D 59% -Below F
Extra Credit Opportunities:
There will be extra credit opportunities throughout the semester. If you feel like you have struggled on a test or an assignment, it is recommended that you take advantage of these opportunities.
Classroom Expectations and Procedures:
This is a project-oriented class, in which group efforts are required, attendance is necessary for full credit. Unexcused absences will result in loss of points for that particular day’s activities. This classroom requires following school policies. BE SAFE, RESPECTFUL, AND RESPONSIBLE! Failure to comply with the rules results in schools stated consequences.
Absences:
It is your responsibility to verify that an absence was excused in order for you to make up those missing day’s points. (Pre-arranged absences DO NOT excuse you from known due dates. If you are SICK or at a DOCTOR’S APPT on the day an extended assignment is due, you are REQUIRED to turn it in along with everyone else. You may need a parent or a friend to drop off your work in my box.) If your absence is excused and a project was assigned on that day, you will have two extra days plus the time you were gone to finish the project.
