Day forty three: (Feb 4)
-Start Reading Chapter 17 Promotional Concepts and Strategies-17.1 The Promotional Mix (pg 395-403) - take notes on outline
*Review (Go around the room and share one example of a sales promotion experienced)
-Do activities at the back of packet
*Worksheet 1-Promotional Mix graphic organizer
*Worksheet 2-Institutional ads-Go online and look up five different institutional promotions that 5 different companies have
done to create favorable image
Day forty four: (Feb 6)
-Review 17.1 Cornell Style (re-read, highlight main ideas, ?, *, test question in the left hand margin, summarize at end, share)
-Worksheets 2 & 3
*Worksheet 2- Finish finding your 5 different institutional advertisements with the mini write up underneath. The company name, what
they usually sell and how this ad creates goodwill for that company
* Worksheet 3-Publicity and Media releases
*Find an article in the on the internet on a for profit business like a Costco, Campbell's, Walmart, Nike etc that would be an
example of positive or negative publicity for that company. Print the article and staple it on to the sheet with the required write-up
on the actual worksheet itself. (2 paragraph write up. First is the 8-10 sentence summary. The second is a 4-5 sentence paragraph
on why and how this is good or bad publicity for them and why. Copy and paste your article into a word document. Print and
staple the article to the back of packet.

-Finish your write up on an article you found on a for profit business. Copy and paste your article into a word document. Print and
staple the article to the back of packet.
-Next type up the your Tigard High Media Release. (or a media release for your company) (Review pages 398-399: Writing News Releases
and Publicity.) Make sure your write up looks identical to the example in the book. Make sure your event is positive and newsworthy that
will provide a good image for Tigard or for your own company. Save, print and staple the Media Release to back of packet when finished.

-Go around the room and share a consumer promotion you have experienced. What was it and with what company

the example falls under that example of sales promotion

-In your groups become the Promotion experts for "Portland Gear" (look at the project guideline and brainstorm sheet from link
below - record your answers on a blank sheet of notebook paper) You will be creating a newsworthy promotional campaign, and the sky is the limit
(One the will use ALL 5 tools of promotion) using four of the six step process when developing a Promotional Mix for this growing local
company (you don't have a budget) Get project requirements here
-Today come up with your BIG creative thoughtful event. One that will be appealing to your target markets and that is newsworthy. Come
up with a theme and slogan for the event. Decide what you will use for each of the five tools and then decide the 2 mock ups you will create
for your promotions presentation board.
-Next you will start to create a web page for this Portland Gear event using wix.com. You must include a title, the who what where when
why of the event, along with the campaign slogan. Make sure you are listing all the great giveaways and benefits that they will receive
at the event. Be sure to include company contact info, their company logo, and pictures. DO NOT Publish this page
Day forty nine: (Feb 24)
Day 2
-Today you are solely working on your website. (Wix.com) Remember to include: title, the who what where when why of the event, along
with the campaign slogan. Make sure you are listing all the great giveaways and benefits that they will receive at the event. Be sure to include
company contact info, along with a map with your event location, their company logo, and pictures. Try to have this done by the end of the period.
Day fifty: (Feb 27)
Day 3
-Discuss the second half of the project worksheet. Talk about the slide show and the poster board.
-Start your slide show (Remember as much DETAIL as possible. Who, what, where, when, why. Dates, times, locations,
what we will see at the event. Who is hosting it, company logo, contact info, event slogan, deals, specials, freebies we will get there, etc)
Remember to follow the requirements on the projects page
-If you finish, start to create your mock-ups for your sales promotions. Remember DETAILS, DETAILS DETAILS.
(Who, what, where, when, why, slogan, contact info, Portland Gear logo, etc) Two mock-ups if in teams of two. Make the mock ups as
realistic as possible. Remember all of the artistic tools that we have learned in our Advertising Unit.
